Description
Today, I’m exploring Aultmore’s 18-year-old Foggie Moss single malt Scotch whisky. The name alone—Foggie Moss—evokes a vivid scene: dense fog winding its way through moss-covered ruins of an ancient castle hidden in the misty Scottish moors.
As it turns out, this imagery isn’t far off. The Aultmore Distillery, located in Banffshire in Scotland’s Speyside region, is often shrouded in a thick, mystical fog, adding to its unique allure.
Aultmore’s story begins in 1895, when Alexander Edward, just 25 years old, joined forces with Peter Mackie to purchase his father’s land, eventually establishing the renowned Craigellachie distillery. After returning from an extensive journey abroad, Edward went on to commission the construction of Aultmore Distillery, which has continued crafting this remarkable single malt ever since.
