The journey of Akashi Red begins with three years of aging in Japanese shochu casks made from American oak. After this initial maturation, the whisky is transferred to ex-bourbon casks, where it gains rich, vanilla-infused notes and an additional layer of depth. To complete its journey, Akashi Red spends a final two years finishing in ex-sherry casks.
